Day 1Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari begins early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Kigali or Kigali International Airport by your professional safari driver-guide. After a short briefing about the journey, you will begin the scenic drive toward southwestern Uganda through Rwanda’s beautiful rolling hills, often referred to as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” You will cross into Uganda through the Cyanika or Katuna border depending on your allocated gorilla trekking sector in Bwindi.

The drive offers beautiful views of:, Terraced hillsides, Rural villages, Mountain landscapes, Agricultural communities, Scenic countryside

There will be a stop for lunch along the way as you continue toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You are free to request photo stops during the drive to capture memorable moments of East Africa’s beautiful landscapes. Arrival at your lodge is expected in the late afternoon or evening where you will relax and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 2Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest & Return to Kigali

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before transferring to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides.During the briefing, you will learn the gorilla trekking guidelines, safety measures, and expectations while visiting the gorillas in their natural habitat. You will then be assigned a gorilla family together with experienced ranger guides and trackers before entering the rainforest. The gorilla trekking experience can take between 2 and 7 hours depending on the movement and location of the gorilla family. The trek may involve hiking through steep slopes, dense vegetation, and forest trails, making it both challenging and rewarding. As you move through Bwindi’s ancient rainforest, you may encounter: Forest birds, Butterflies, Monkeys, Unique tree species, Small forest mammals

The highlight of the experience comes when you finally meet the mountain gorillas. Visitors are allowed one unforgettable hour with the gorillas while observing their natural behaviors. You may watch mothers caring for young gorillas, playful juveniles climbing branches, or the powerful silverback monitoring the family group. This close wildlife encounter remains one of Africa’s most extraordinary safari experiences. After trekking, return to the park headquarters where you will receive your gorilla trekking certificate. Depending on time availability, an optional community cultural visit may be arranged where you can experience traditional dances, music performances, and local cultural experiences from surrounding communities.

Later, begin your drive back to Kigali with arrival expected in the evening. Drop-off will be at your hotel or Kigali International Airport.
