Drive to Arusha national park; on it is Mt Meru as one of the park’s attractions. Other attractions in the park include the Meru crater, Ngurdoto crater, and Momella lakes. Some of the animals in the park include buffalos, giraffes, black and white colobus monkeys, and small predators. On a clear day, you will get a glimpse of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Take a walk with an armed park ranger so you take a close up the walk with the animals; zebras, buffalos, waterbucks, bush-backs, warthogs, baboons, and different bird species. The walk will take you across the Jekukumia River to visit the waterfall. The guide will tell you about most of what you see; animals, trees, animal food.
Go on an afternoon game drive by the Momella lakes which between May and October it looks pink because of the thousands of flamingos and other water birds on the water.
Start your morning with a game drive in this park. It is well known for its large herds of elephants which gather at the Tarangire River to drink. For birders, there are about more than 500 bird species to watch. This park is the only place in Tanzania where you can spot gerenuk and oryx, outside the Serengeti it has the largest wildlife population. Spot animals like lions, buffalos, leopards, impalas, warthog, eland, and waterbuck
Go out of the park on a drive to “Mto wa Mbu” village for a cultural tour that involves moving around this farming community as you tour through farms, schools, churches, markets and with 18,000 locals who have diverse cultures from 120 tribes. Visit the wood workshops where the Skilled Makonde carpenters carve wooden intricate household items, masks, and figurines. Enter the local markets and put your haggling skills to use especially when buying vegetables, fruits, meat and spices in their stalls.
Lake Manyara national park is one of the smallest parks in Tanzania but it has the only evergreen forest in the country whose inhabitants include baboons and by the lake here are water birds like flamingos and pelicans. Migratory birds can be viewed here like the grey-headed kingfisher. It is home to tree-climbing lions.
Visit the Serengeti national park since its one of the tour highlights. With the most extensive wild game population on earth with a pure undisturbed ecosystem. The Serengeti has three sections; the North (Lobo area), South (Seronera valley) and the West corridor. The great wildebeest migration can be seen in the North area which is one of the most fascinating natural events worldwide. You can now return to your hotel for the evening.
You will set off for a whole day out in the Serengeti with close up opportunities during the drives in the wild. let’s do this early morning when most predators have just woken up and are up for hunting. Visit Seronera valley that has the lions and mongoose spending time there. Lunch will be a pre-packed picnic.
Today’s morning game drive will be as you drive out of the park towards the Ngorongoro crater for an afternoon game drive. Within the crater, you will see cheetahs, jackals, Thompson’s gazelle, flamingo, and uniquely the Big 5; lions, elephants, buffalos, rhinos, leopards. As well as for those who enjoy birding as an activity, there are around 400 bird species to add your drive.
Optional activity: Hot air balloon safari
Float over the beautiful scenery of the Serengeti seen with a birds eye view. This safari activity will be early morning while it’s still dark so you see the nocturnal animals going to water shores to quench their thirst. In the middle of the park, you can enjoy a bush breakfast with champagne
This will be your last day on the trails. After 3 hours of sloping to the Mweka gate, you will have one last meal with the expedition team and fellow hikers then return to Arusha.
Take a hot bath and finally return to a warm bed in your lodge.
Depending on what time your international flight out of the local airport is, you can take part in an optional activity to end the safari.
