Trip Overview

This 7 day super luxury wildlife safari covers all the highlights of Rwanda, the land of many hills. It takes you to visit the mountain gorillas, takes you through Akagera National park, where you can find plenty of wildlife – lions, giraffes, buffalo and more! It covers the genocide memorial sites, and crowns the experience with a chimpanzee trek in Nyungwe forest!

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Kigali International Airport

You will be met and welcomed by the company guide of Arrive Africa Safaris who will transfer you to your hotel in Kigali. You will then take a rest after your lunch as you wait to enjoy a city tour which will stop at the genocide memorial sites and other places of interest.

Day 2 - 3: Travel to Volcanoes National Park / Gorilla Trekking

Early in the morning, you can proceed to enjoy a city tour and visit some of the interesting,
historical sites, which include; the Kigali Memorial Site and Nyamata church. You will then have lunch in the city before proceeding to the most beautiful national park which is volcanoes national park. It’s the area with rich montane ecosystems, from bamboo forest to the open grassland and
swamps.

On the next day, you will have an opportunity to spend time with the endangered mountain gorillas. You will also have a hike through the green landscape and the hills of the Virunga volcanoes. You will be given one magic hour with these amazing creatures while the guide will explain more about the family and its behaviour. Then return to the lodge in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the breathtaking view of the park.

Day 4: Transfer to Akagera National Park / Evening Game Drive in Akagera

You will then drive to Akagera national park for the afternoon or the evening game drive.  Akagera national park is the ideal place to be for any visitor who wishes to see wildlife animals in Rwanda, especially the Big Five animals. The national park sits on a 1,122 square kilometer piece of land and has over 8,000 large wildlife animals including elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards, and buffalos. You may get a chance to see a variety of wildlife like; the Burchell’s zebra, giraffes, antelopes, impala, topi, Sitatunga, lions, jackals, and hyenas among others.

Day 5 - 6: Day Morning Game Drive / Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe Forest

After an early morning breakfast, you will proceed for a morning game drive for a close
encounter with the animals like the zebras, several antelope species, lions and giraffes. Later, drive out of the park, stopping for lunch at Kigali town and continuing on to Nyungwe Forest.
This forest boasts many primate species like the wild chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many others. Therefore a night walk this evening in search of the shy forest dwellers is rewarding and worthwhile.

The next day, have your breakfast and after, you will proceed for a primate walk in search for the many primate species as mentioned above, some of these include; the chimpanzees, monkeys, baboons and many more. This is a whole day activity accompanied by park rangers and trained guides.

Departure

Depending on your flight time, you will have an early morning breakfast leaving for Kigali
Airport. In case your flight departs in the morning or afternoon it is advisable to spend an
extra night in Kigali.
