Highlights

What you'll experience

  • Unlike standard trekking permits, the Gorilla Habituation Experience lets you stay up to four hours with a partially habituated group — long enough to watch a silverback nap, juveniles wrestle, and a mother nurse her infant.

  • You move through the forest alongside Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, trained trackers, and field researchers. Their commentary on gorilla behaviour turns observation into genuine understanding.

  • One of Africa's oldest rainforests, Bwindi holds over 350 bird species. On the trail you may pass African green broadbill, black-and-white casqued hornbill, and shafts of light falling through 25-metre Prunus africana trees.

  • The drive south from Kampala crosses the equator at Kayabwe — a good stop for a coffee, a photograph, and the curious experiment of water draining in opposite directions.

  • The road into Bwindi climbs through terraced hillsides of sorghum and banana, with views across the Virunga volcanoes on clear mornings — a slow, rewarding drive in its own right.

Why choose us

Why choose a Private Journey?

This 3 Days Fly-In Murchison Falls Safari offers the perfect combination of Uganda wildlife viewing, luxury safari travel, Nile River experiences, and unforgettable landscapes, making it ideal for travelers with limited time who still want an authentic African safari adventure.

More Time, More Understanding

Four hours alongside a partially habituated family is not just longer — it is categorically different. You see the full arc of a gorilla morning: feeding, resting, playing, moving. The standard one-hour permit cannot offer that.

Small Group, Private Vehicle

No more than four guests share the habituation permit at a time. Your vehicle, your guide, your pace on the road — there is no fixed-departure coach and no waiting around for other passengers.

Conservation at the Source

Permit revenue funds the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers and researchers who make habituation possible. Walking in with them, not just behind them, gives you a direct line to what long-term gorilla conservation actually looks like day to day.
