Overview

About this journey

This exciting 2-day Murchison Falls Wildlife Safari offers travelers an opportunity to explore Uganda’s largest and most famous conservation area, Murchison Falls National Park. The park is known for its breathtaking scenery, remarkable wildlife encounters, and the powerful Murchison Falls, where the mighty River Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge before plunging dramatically below.

Highlights

What you'll experience

  • A three-hour launch trip up the Victoria Nile delivers you beneath the falls themselves — spray on your face, African fish eagles overhead, and Nile crocodiles resting on every sandbank.

  • After the boat docks at the foot of the falls, a UWA ranger guides you up the 45-minute scramble along the gorge wall. At the top, the entire Nile vanishes into a crack in the rock before your eyes.

  • The savannah north of the Nile holds some of Uganda's densest wildlife — Rothschild's giraffes moving between borassus palms, buffalo herds raising red dust, and lions patrolling the Albert delta flats.

  • Twice a day the small car ferry crosses between the park's north and south banks. Hippos surface alongside the hull and pied kingfishers rattle past — it is a five-minute wildlife encounter in its own right.

  • The papyrus fringes of the Albert Nile are among the most reliable places in East Africa to find the prehistoric shoebill stork standing motionless above the shallows.

Why choose us

Why choose a Private Journey?

Murchison Falls is the kind of place where the landscape does the talking. Here is why this two-day circuit works.

One Guide, Start to Finish

Your driver-guide travels with you from Kampala pickup to drop-off — no handovers, no lost context. They know which bend of the river the shoebill favours this season.

Small Group, Better Sightings

With a maximum of six guests per vehicle, the pop-up roof never gets crowded. When a leopard moves through the long grass, everyone gets a clear line of sight.

UWA Ranger Included

A Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger joins every game drive and the gorge trail walk — required by the park and genuinely valuable for spotting the birds and plants your guide points the vehicle toward.
